Kabwika was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1958. He is
married, and has four children. He obtained BSc and MSc degrees in Chemical
Engineering from the University of Lubumbashi, completing his studies in 1983.
Kabwika joined the Pyrometallurgy Division at Mintek in October 1997. He
has, in total, 17 years experience in the field of pyrometallurgy (7 years
at Gecamines in the DRC, and 10 years at Mintek), covering plant operation
as well as research and development.
