(Acting) Chief Executive Officer
David Msiza is the (Acting) Chief Executive Officer of Mintek. David is responsible for providing strategic direction to Mintek towards the achievement of the organization’s mandate as set out in the Mineral Technology Act. As the accounting officer of the organization, David carries the responsibilities assigned to this function by the PFMA and its regulation. In addition, he is responsible for designing strategies that will ensure Mintek’s sustainable growth and the attainment of healthy revenues.
David Msiza has been with the mining sector prior to joining the Department of Mineral Resources in 1998. He was also the Chief Inspector of Mines at the DMR from 2010 being responsible for the promotion of health and safety in the sector. He was the Board Chairperson of the Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) and the Mining Qualification Authority (MQA). He was also a Chairperson of the Risk Committee at the Department of Health. Prior to joining Mintek, David served as the Acting Director General at the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) for more than a year from 2016.
David holds a BSc. Mining Engineering Degree from Wits, completed the Executive Development Programme (EDP) at the Wits Business School and has a Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (MMC) from the then Department of Minerals and Energy.
