Dr Alain Mwamba, a senior Engineer in the Advanced Materials Division has been appointed in dual roles as the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS) technical assessor and Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) Mock Accreditation Panel member.
As the SANAS technical assessor, he sits on the accreditation panel for the powder metallurgy laboratory which is responsible for assessing procedures relating to conformity to SANAS and international standards, where he assesses the competency of staff and conformity of the work done.
Apart from these appointments, Mwamba has also been appointed external examiner for the Stellenbosch University Master’s degrees thesis and PhD thesis for the University of Johannesburg, a role he previously held at Wits University and the University of Cape Town.
Mwamba is appreciative of Mintek for developing his calibre as a professional engineer. He said, “The appointments are a recognition of Mintek and its contribution in the development of South Africa. These recognitions are a demonstration of the quality and investment by Mintek in developing high-level engineers and scientists.”
“I am very happy over the years, I have trained scientists and engineers in training. My experience enables me to contribute in other fields,” he said.
